Watermelon Liqueur – Recipe

Watermelon Liqueur

Ingredients
  

  • 4-5 lbs watermelon -> 1 qt pureed watermelon
  • 1 C water
  • 1 C sugar
  • 1 qt vodka
  • 1 lemon juiced

Instructions
 

Make simple syrup

  • Bring water to boil
  • Add sugar
  • Stir to dissolve
  • Set aside to cool completely

Make Liqueur

  • Combine syrup, puree, lemon juice in a large bottle or jar
  • Cover and set aside for 5-7 days, stirring daily. After the 5th day, check for flavor
  • When done, strain through a fine-mesh strainer and discard the solids
  • Keeps for up to 1 year.

Notes

Serving suggestions:
Serve chilled over ice
Serve chilled with a splash of seltzer
Get creative with a martini shaker!

      Hi Anne,
      If it’s the comment about the lemon or lime juice being too prevalent, I’d just be conservative and taste as you go. Lime might be the safest bet, since I often see lime paired with watermelon in drinks & desserts.
      Good luck! Let me know how it goes…mine was pretty bland, since the watermelon wasn’t very ripe. 🙁
